Architectural Visualisation for Independent Living Apartments

Project Overview
Mulberry Court is an elegant independent living development located in the heart of Hampton Wick, comprising a collection of thoughtfully designed one and two-bedroom apartments. Created to support later living without compromise, the scheme balances traditional residential architecture with modern comfort, accessibility and high-quality communal spaces.
Charles Roberts Studios was commissioned to produce a series of exterior architectural visualisations to help bring the proposal to life ahead of construction. The imagery was required to communicate not only architectural intent, but also the lifestyle, atmosphere and long-term appeal of the development to planners, stakeholders and prospective residents.
Establishing a Sense of Place
For independent and later-living developments, visual context is critical. Buyers and decision-makers need to feel confident that a scheme will sit comfortably within its surroundings and offer a reassuring sense of permanence.
The CGI presents Mulberry Court as a calm, established residential building, using traditional brickwork, pitched roofs and well-proportioned elevations to reflect the character of Hampton Wick. Careful attention was paid to scale and massing, ensuring the development feels welcoming rather than institutional — an important distinction in later-living architecture.
Natural daylight and balanced colour tones were used to create a warm, inviting atmosphere, helping the building feel familiar and approachable while still clearly new and well considered.
Architecture and Landscape Working Together
Communal outdoor space plays a central role in independent living developments, offering opportunities for social interaction, relaxation and wellbeing. The visualisation places strong emphasis on the relationship between the building and its landscaped gardens.
Soft planting, formal lawns, defined pathways and shared seating areas are carefully integrated into the composition. These elements help communicate how residents will move through and enjoy the space on a daily basis, reinforcing the idea of a sociable yet tranquil environment.
By showing residents comfortably occupying the gardens, the CGI subtly conveys scale, accessibility and lifestyle without overpowering the architecture itself. This human-centred approach is particularly effective for later-living audiences, where reassurance and ease of use are key considerations.
Supporting Planning and Stakeholder Engagement
In addition to marketing, the visuals were designed to support the planning process and stakeholder engagement. Clear sightlines, accurate material representation and realistic shadow studies help demonstrate how the proposal will appear once built, reducing uncertainty and improving clarity for decision-makers.
The imagery avoids exaggeration, instead focusing on believable realism. This ensures the CGI can be confidently used within planning submissions, design reviews and public consultation material, where trust and accuracy are essential.
Before and After Slider Visualisation
Alongside the main exterior CGI, Charles Roberts Studios also produced a before and after slider for the project. This interactive visual tool allows viewers to compare the existing site condition directly with the proposed development.
Before and after sliders are particularly effective for residential and later-living schemes, as they clearly demonstrate the transformation of a site in a single, intuitive interaction. For Mulberry Court, the slider helps illustrate how the development enhances the local environment, improves landscaping and introduces high-quality architecture in a sensitive and appropriate way.
This approach supports clearer communication with planners, neighbours and prospective residents alike, making complex proposals easier to understand at a glance.
Creating Confidence Through Visual Quality
Later-living developments require a careful balance of realism, warmth and clarity. The CGI for Mulberry Court was produced with this balance in mind, combining accurate architectural detail with a lived-in, welcoming atmosphere.
Material textures, glazing reflections and soft landscaping details were refined to ensure the image feels natural rather than overly polished. The goal was to create confidence — confidence in the design, confidence in the lifestyle on offer, and confidence in the long-term quality of the development.
The final visualisation provides a strong foundation for marketing, planning and stakeholder communication, helping Mulberry Court be understood, appreciated and trusted before it is built.
