A House Renovation in the New Forest, Overlooking the Solent

Charles Roberts Studios was commissioned to produce a set of CRS Reveal® before-and-after visuals for a private house renovation in the New Forest, overlooking the Solent. The property sits within a protected coastal landscape, so the brief was to verify exactly how the renovation would look from three agreed viewpoints, to support the planning application.

Three CRS Reveal® comparisons

Each slider is built from a surveyed camera position and calibrated lens data, with the proposed architecture accurately overlaid onto existing photography of the site. Rather than an idealised CGI scene, the before-and-after comparison shows precisely what would be visible from that viewpoint once the renovation was complete. Drone photography formed the survey base, captured from multiple elevations to establish how the house sits within its plot and in relation to neighbouring fields, woodland and the coastal edge.

The CGI itself was developed from the approved architectural drawings, matching brick tones, timber cladding, roof tiles and garden walls to materials typical of the New Forest vernacular, with lighting kept to ordinary south-coast daylight rather than dramatised. From above, courtyard arrangements, garden walls and outbuildings define sheltered spaces close to the house, while open lawns and planting frame the longer views out to the Solent.

Planning permission has since been granted for the renovation. The same imagery also supported design discussions between the client and consultants, and will carry into marketing material once the work is complete.
