3D Renderings for Luxury Homes, Apartments and Real Estate

Charles Roberts Studios is a 3D rendering studio producing photoreal renderings of houses, apartments and real estate developments. We work for developers, architects, housebuilders, agents and marketing teams, and have been producing architectural CGI since 1995, mostly on high-end residential projects in the UK and internationally.

Our renderings are used to market homes before they are built, support planning applications, explain a scheme to investors and lenders, and give agents and sales teams finished imagery while photography is still impossible.

3D house renderings

From replacement houses to country estates, a house rendering has to show the architecture and its setting together. Exterior views show the materials, roof forms and landscape. Interior views show the layout, light and finishes before the house is built. Dusk views can follow from the same model.

Recent house projects include Penbury Grove, Windlesham House and Spearbed Copse in the UK. In the US, they include a new home on Long Island and a private estate on Lake Tahoe.

3D apartment renderings

For apartment developments, we produce exterior views of the building, entrance and lobby renderings, amenity spaces and interiors of individual apartments. These are often the main imagery for off-plan sales, so they need to show the specification accurately as well as the overall look.

Apartment projects include Philip House on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, a Grade II listed apartment in Mayfair, boutique apartments in Sunningdale and Colston Court in Gerrards Cross.

3D renderings for real estate developers

For developers, renderings are a working tool as well as marketing. The same set of images can go into a planning submission, an investor or lender presentation, the brochure, the website, the hoarding and the sales suite. That keeps the scheme consistent from first presentation to launch.

Because the 3D model is built once, it can also be used for further views, walkthrough animations and property brochures as the project moves forward.

Luxury residential renderings

High-end homes are judged on detail. Stone, timber, marble and metalwork need to read as they will in reality, and lighting and landscape need to support the architecture without overpowering it. We work from the architect’s and interior designer’s specification, so the renderings show the scheme as designed.

Planning visuals and CRS Reveal®

For planning, renderings can show massing, materials and key views, sometimes combined with site photography as photomontages. CRS Reveal® before-and-after sliders let planners, consultees and buyers compare the existing site with the proposal from the same viewpoint.

If you only have part of this, send what you have and we’ll advise on the rest.

International clients

Alongside UK work, we produce 3D renderings for developers, architects and private clients in the United States and the Gulf, including projects in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. All of this work is managed remotely from our London studio, with calls arranged to suit each client’s time zone. US clients can find US contact details and services on our US site.

Frequently asked questions

What are 3D renderings used for in real estate?

Marketing homes before they are built, brochures and websites, investor and lender presentations, sales suites and planning submissions.

What is the difference between 3D renderings and CGI?

None in practice. Both terms describe computer-generated images of a building or interior. “Renderings” is more common in the US, and “CGI” in the UK.

Do you create both interior and exterior 3D renderings?

Yes, along with aerial views, dusk views and walkthrough animations from the same model.

Can 3D renderings be used for planning applications?

Yes. We produce planning visuals, photomontages and CRS Reveal® before-and-after comparisons.

How long does a 3D rendering take?

Typically around three weeks from receiving complete information, depending on the number of views and the complexity of the project.

What information do you need to quote?

Drawings or a short brief, the number and type of views, how the images will be used, and your deadline.
