Walkthroughs

A walkthrough is an animated film that moves through a proposed building or development, so buyers, planners and clients can see the layout and scale before construction starts. Below are examples for houses, apartments and residential schemes.

Exterior and interior

Exterior sequences can approach on foot or from the air, showing the massing of the buildings, the landscape, access and wider setting. Interior sequences move through the principal spaces to show how rooms connect, how large they are and how the finishes work together. The two are often combined in one film, running from arrival at the property to the rooms inside.

Built from the design

Each scene is modelled from the architect's or designer's drawings, so the film shows the design as drawn. We light every scene to suit it, with natural and artificial light, reflections, shadows and surface detail, and grade the final footage in post-production. Camera routes are planned so the viewer can follow the layout.

How walkthroughs are used

Developers use them for off-plan marketing, launches and sales presentations. Architects and planning consultants use them to explain a design to clients and to support planning submissions. They also sit alongside still CGI, brochures and website imagery, so a campaign can draw on the same material throughout.

Who we work with

Architects, developers, interior designers, estate agents and private clients, on projects from a single house or penthouse to larger masterplans. Each film is planned around what it needs to show and who will be watching.
