Architectural Visualisations for a New England-Style Home on the Isle of Wight

We produced interior and exterior architectural visualisations for a new contemporary home on the Isle of Wight, for an architect who needed to show his vision to his client and support the planning application. The design takes its cues from New England coastal architecture, pairing traditional proportions with modern detailing. The images had to convey the materials and craftsmanship of the design and also its atmosphere: calm, refined and connected to its rural-coastal setting.

Exterior: Traditional Proportion, Modern Restraint

The house draws on the New England vernacular, with pitched roofs, weatherboard cladding and large picture windows, reinterpreted through natural materials and clean lines. We set the exterior visualisations under a bright but gentle island sky so the warm timber, natural stone and muted paint palette sit naturally against the surrounding greenery. Planting, soft shadows and reflections in the glazing ground the images in realism. The views run from the entrance elevation to the garden.

Interior: Light, Texture and Volume

The interiors show the features that give the design its character: an open-plan layout, vaulted ceilings and exposed timber trusses. The main living space combines kitchen, dining and lounge beneath a double-height pitched ceiling, with natural oak, painted cabinetry, soft neutrals and large glazed openings that connect it to the countryside. The aim was for the client to judge the space as if standing in it.

We modelled the kitchen in detail, down to the cabinet and worktop edges and the pendant lights. The stone fireplace, timber beams and woven rugs were textured to give the images depth, and restrained post-production refined the warmth and clarity of the light. A secondary living space continues the coastal palette with blue and grey accents, built-in shelving, panelled walls and natural fabrics.

From Design Vision to Planning Application

The house was still in design and planning when we began. The architect used the visualisations to present his vision to his client, and they formed part of the planning application, showing how the building would sit in its landscape and how the interiors would feel.
