Contemporary Design Meets Historic Elegance

Charles Roberts Studios was commissioned to create a series of interior design CGIs for the renovation of a Grade I Listed Georgian Manor House overlooking the River Thames. Working in collaboration with a leading interior designer, our task was to visualise a bold and contemporary reimagining of one of the property’s key spaces, a dramatic, light-filled dining room where modern artistry and historical architecture coexist in perfect harmony.

This project exemplifies our studio’s expertise in balancing cutting-edge contemporary design with heritage sensitivity. The resulting imagery communicates how the designer’s vision transforms a centuries-old structure into a space that feels current, curated, and alive with personality.

A Bespoke Contemporary Glass Chandelier
The centrepiece of this dining room interior design is a bespoke glass chandelier, a sculptural work of art suspended like a constellation above the dining table. Its looping, fluid form in hand-blown glass and polished metal brings energy and movement to the otherwise restrained composition of the room.

In our CGI, the chandelier takes centre stage, its reflective surfaces interacting with the soft daylight streaming through the Georgian sash windows. The contrast between the chandelier’s avant-garde geometry and the historic envelope of the Manor House captures the essence of the design: heritage reimagined through a modern lens.

Juxtaposing Contemporary Features Against a Traditional Framework

One of the most compelling aspects of this design is the juxtaposition between old and new. The classic architectural detailing, tall sash windows, ornate cornices, and deep wall panelling, frames a distinctly modern interior language.

Our 3D visualisation captures this duality through careful attention to tone, texture, and proportion. The deep wall colour provides a moody, sophisticated backdrop, allowing the metallic accents and modern furnishings to stand out in striking contrast.

This careful interplay of materials and light communicates both respect for the building’s heritage and confidence in modern design, a balance central to the designer’s philosophy and perfectly aligned with Charles Roberts Studios’ visual storytelling approach.

Intricate Plasterwork and Period Detailing

To faithfully represent the interior designer’s concept, our artists meticulously modelled the plasterwork and mouldings of the Georgian ceiling, ensuring that the new design elements felt grounded in architectural reality. Each cornice and ceiling recess was recreated with sub-millimetre precision using reference drawings and photographic studies of the existing property.

The result is a visualisation that celebrates the building’s historic craftsmanship while giving space for contemporary interventions to shine.

Herringbone Parquet Flooring

The herringbone parquet flooring was another key element in this proposal. Its warm tone and intricate patterning ground the room and connect the design back to its Georgian origins. By rendering the texture and grain of the wood in high detail, we ensured that the floor’s tactile presence could be fully appreciated even in digital form.

The flooring serves as both a historical nod and a design unifier, linking the modern dining furniture and chandelier to the heritage setting through timeless materiality.

Complementary Kitchen Interior Visualisation

In addition to the dining room, Charles Roberts Studios produced a companion kitchen interior CGI for the same property. The kitchen design mirrors the dining room’s balance of old and new, modern cabinetry, high-end appliances, and soft natural finishes set within the Manor House’s original architectural shell.

Both spaces demonstrate how CGI visualisation can bring cohesion to multi-room design concepts, helping interior designers communicate flow, light, and material consistency across a project.
